Happy Victoria Day!

Here is most of the Wong family, minus Uncle Mike who is somewhere in the Canadian north (1 hr float plane flight north of Hearst, ontario). We had a gorgeous weekend and the kids loved the fireworks (except the Queen, who was so terrified she went hysterical and had to be taken to the basement until it was done!). More pics to come next weekend, as we are celebrating Claire's 1st birthday the the entire Wong clan....

Spring time

Finally it seems spring has arrived here in freezing CAnada. This is a shot of a blue daisy from a bouquet we had for our dinner party last weekend. PLaying with my cool digital camera and practicing some modes to learn about it. I really like the vivid colours in this pic. The weather is amazing, warm and sunny, no rain in fact for a week! Around 20C and just gorgeous. Looking forward to the Wong Family visit from Nova Scotia next week, that and little Queen's first birthday. HArdly seems like a year already. Can barely remember life before her!

Well, Jersey and I managed to get the first leg of our Rally advanced title yesterday, scoring 188 and FIRST place ! YAY! We blew the first run, as it had the offset figure 8 and the FOOD BOWLS. May be our Waterloo! Now I have something to work toward, training around those darn food bowls. UGH. Of course both runs also had jumps, which didn't do her leg any good, as she is limping again today. Guess it will be back to the vet for some x-rays.

That's it! Heading back OUTSIDE to enjoy some fantastic spring weather..23C and sun,sun,sun!

We all survived Easter, despite the deadly kiddie-sickness germs flying around our house. NOw I have it, but the little people seem back to normal. The little Queen is easily getting around furniture these days, and trying to climb the stairs. A going concern for sure.
Hopefully the weather will turn around soon, as we are aLL sick (literally) of winter and would welcome a warm, sunny spring.

We the Wong family would like to sincerely thank the JERK who smashed our rear window in the NO Frills parking lot yesterday (saturday). Thanks for owning up to your mistake and doing right by it...YA RIGHT. I guess even though the parking lot was FULL nobody saw a THING. Now any tax money coming back (if that ever happens thanks to the government computer glitch) will be spent on a new rear windshield. Lovely. I guess that's the just desserts for shopping at no Frills. Just the pick me up I needed. Thanks alot you GOOF.

Freezing Winterfest

Off to Winterfest carnival at Honda today. Nice and sunny, air temp about -5C, add in winds of 40-50km/hr and we got about, oh, -18C. We lasted about 2 hours and then headed home. Adam did love roasting marshmallows over the campfire and the pony rides. They had a neat kite demo too, but they were a bit wild with the winds. NOw we are warm and toasty (just in time for me to take Jersey out for a walk!).

Great way to spend a winter afternoon!

So it's been awhile since I've put anything new here on the blog. Busy, since going back to work and all that jazz. Lucky bird has yet to make an appearance here on the blog, so here he is! ABout 7yrs old, and we adopted him from the SPCA 2 years ago. He is a blue-winged parrotlet and was rescued from a roadside petshop (illegal) in rather nasty living conditions. There were 3 in total, but I really only wanted one. MAybe soon another? Who knows.

Anyhow, Mum got a nice apartment here in Bradford and plans on moving over mid-may. Seems like a long time, but it will come fast!

Things at work really haven't changed (go figure). Just starting some work on my anesthesia assist practicum (even though I'm still waiting for my "official" pass or fail from the didactic portion. Clinical I think will prove to be fun and interesting...who knows where it will lead?

Yes, I'm feeling winter blah-ish.
Perhaps a bit sorry for myself, in that less than a week, it's back to work for the next Oh...25 years or so. UGH. Time goes by pretty quickly.
Supposed to be a big winter storm heading this way tomorrow, and into wednesday.
This forest pic is the snowmobile trails in Holland LAnding, where we regularly run the dog-pack. Looks nice, doesn't it?

Been playing a bit more with my funky digital camera. Trying to capture some Kodak moments. I like this shot of Jersey and ADam! We are still stuck inside, as the windchill is about -18C and blowing at about 50km/hr. Very, very cold. I suppose it is winter. PLanning on heading out for a dog walk in the forest shortly, want to get out before the sun goes down and then it will be TOO cold. Everyone is bored and tired of this freezing weather, poor Jersey is catching the brunt of it! I cannot wait until Adam's swimming lessons start up again in a couple of weeks. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! CAn you believe it's back to work in only a week for me?? Oh yes....
FINISHED MY ANESTHESIA ASSISTANT COURSE!!!! Only the clincal part left, but the nasty stuff is DONE! Yay! Should have my final marks in a couple of weeks.......

Winter CHILL

The past week we have been graced by Ol' Man Winter. Tonight in fact, the temperature is -20C and winds are 40-60km/hr, making a chilly, chilly night. We have been spoiled though, since it has only gotten REALLY cold over the past 2-3 weeks or so. This shot I took at the forest a week or so ago in the morning, was really beautiful with the sun gleaming through the trees and the snow. Peaceful and rather serene (until you factor the pack of crazed dogs charging through the bush at full tilt dodging the snowmobiles...) . Hapy Winter everyone!

New Title!

Jersey has finally achieved what I thought to be "un-acheivable".
Yes, she is finally a "Rally Novice". We scored a 195 and placed 1st
in our class (novice a). Just need to think about completing her ckc novice obedience title, which we will try for at Swansea trial in May with Bernadette.
A big fat congrats to Jersey!

MONSTER JAM

Holy big fat fun weekend for Adam. He finally got to see Monster Jam with Daddy at Rogers Centre. The biggest hits were Batman, Superman and of course, Grave Digger. There was a small mix-up with the tickets, and they ended up pretty much front and centre (hence the ear muffs!). Adam was pretty excited and really enjoyed himself. Daddy on the other hand was exhausted and had a killer headache despite the ear protection. I think the next expedition will be something a little quieter.....
Next weekend is for Mummy and Jersey, hoping to finish our rally novice trial in Georgetown and possibly move up to the advanced level.....

So this is 2007? Big deal. Apart from being exhausted, broke and just downright BLAh there isn't much more to say! Been practicing with my new camera and captured a really amazing sunset shot from our back deck. Almost finished my course, only 4 more weeks (yay) then it's back to work...yes, back to work Feb 19th. CAn't believe it. Guess we will get ready to celebrate Chinese New Year (2007 is the Year of the Boar). Anyway, stay tuned for a more frequently updated blog, now that I have figured out how to get the pictures from the camera on to the computer. It is amazingly cool indeed!

Well, here we are in the prosperous year of 2007. After surviving the Christmas madness (thank goodness only once a year!) the reality is setting in. Grasping the concept of me going back to work in a mere 6 weeks is kind of disheartening. Working on finishing my course is a challenge also. It will be interesting to see how "Mr Mom" will manage the household! Still a few minor goals to accomplish before back to work, including finishing the Christmas dog's rally novice title (hopefully Jan 27) and then my anesthesia assistant course (hopefully february 9, then the clinical after that). It has been a great 2006, and we're hoping an even better 2007. Happy New Year to everyone!

Another Christmas come and gone. A green one, here in Bradford. Mummy received a fantastic new DIGITAL SLR pentax camera, so there will be TONS of photos once I figure it out. Adam and Claire have a large abundance of new things and even Jersey got some nice presents. We are all exhausted after the past couple of days events, eating, opening gifts and visitng family have pretty much wiped out the Wong family. It certainly has been fun, and now we look forward to playing with our new toys and enjoying the holiday break. Here's to hoping 2007 is filled with fun, happiness and HEALTH.

Scrub-a-Dub

Nothing like that clean feeling you get with BATMAN foaming body wash. Ah yes, the novelties available for bath time. Another item that Santa can leave in Adam's stocking, because he is such a good boy AND he loves his bath. Here's to hoping the Christmas shopping will get finished up tomorrow and we can all relax and enjoy the next week. A busy weekend we celebrated cousin Brandon's 8th birthday yesterday after swimming lessons. Adam is pretty tired out tonight, in bed early getting ready for SCHOOL tomorrow!I'm sure he will love me for posting this pic in 15 years....

It's been a tough week, eveyone getting over sickness, me recovering from surgery but we've tried to get into the Christmas spirit. There's still a bit of shopping to do, hopefully getting finished up on monday or tuesday. Another week to go and it will all be over for another year. Doesn't feel much like Christmas, temperatures are well above 0C and no snow to speak of. How cute is this girl in her hat???

Claire had a VERY short visit with Santa and the Missus at the Honda kids Xmas party on saturday. Note position of the lower lip, I got the pic right before she screamed her face off. Didn't think much of the jolly old elf! Adam had a great time, considering we were all sick and feeling crummy to start with.
Here's to hoping Santa doesn't take the sentiment to heart!

Snowy Thursday

The temperature did a big dump today, and we had upwards of 10cm of the flufy white stuff.
Some enjoyed it more than others. We reached a balmy high of -8C. ADam, despite getting over a chest infection (which he passed so nicely along to his siste and myself) had fun playing in the snow with his machines. Couldn't last too long, it was really cold, and the temp dropped to -14C as the day went on. The high right now is -9C, but since we are all sick, it's a quiet day inside.

Another Milestone!

Wow, right after we saw the doctor and she wasn't doing anything, all of a sudden she's doing everything! Rolling over (and over...and over....and over!), babbling like crazy and now sitting up for short periods all by herself. That huge head sometimes causes some trouble, but boy has she been leaping and bounding this past week.
She is pretty cute, don't you think?

It's Christmas Time

Here it is that time of year again. We managed to get the tree up and decorated with only a couple of small breakages. Getting set for the holiday season, nice long lists for Santa.
Every year seems more frantic, and I think many people have lost what the meaning of Christmas truly is. Maybe it's time we all sat back and had some quiet reflection time as a reality check. (Maybe because I'm reading "The Celestine Prophecy" I'm having this whole spiritual..."thing".

Start 'em Young

Think Tim Hortons may have a new poster child. UNcle Mike and Auntie Lucy came to visit Sunday, complete with treats. Everyone had a nice visit, except Adam who STILL has a fever and was not feeling 100%.

Milestones!

So this week has been a new milestone...yes the Princess can now roll over on to her tummy. Only one small problem...she cannot quite roll back yet. HAd a great doctor appointment, ht = 73cm, head size = 47cm and wt =22lb, all in the 99% for her age. Yay! Rolling around in the crib has lead to several screaming incidents when trapped sideways and face down!
Mobility comes next, ARE WE READY??

We managed to survive the SAnta experience with no screaming
and got a really great picture of Claire and Adam with Santa.
Well, time is passing and I have to get in gear and finish up some shopping (with all the money I don't have!). Should be lovely and challenging to Christmas shop with these two in tow. Off to visit the mall when Princess Claire awakens from the royal slumber....

A Week Late...But No Less Sweet!!

Yes, here we are a full week late, but last weekend was SO sweet for myself and Bernadette. We both received qualifying scores in the Obedience trials at Georgina, and therefore each received 2 legs towards our "CD" title. How excellent! The weather was AWFUL but who cares! WE QUALIFIED! YAY FOR US!!!! NOw it's a matter of getting that elusive 3rd leg.....think we'll take a Christmas break and snap to it again in the new year.

A Man Called "Uncle"

This weekend my brother blew into town for a super fast visit. It was very nice to see him, since he lives in Germany we don't see him as often as we would like.
Uncle Fraser met Ms Claire for the first time and
Adam had a ton of fun playing with his Uncle.
All too soon his visit was over, but hopefully we
will see him and his family again before too long.

Oh what a happy day for me! After all the work and training we FINALLY received 2 great scores at the Rally-Obedience match we attended today at CAmpaign Dog Training in Georgetown. My first rally trial went SO much better than I ever expected, and we scored a 188 and a 192. That resulted in finishing in FIRST place! Yippee for me. This means we now have "2 legs" toward Jersey's Rally-novice title. Here's to hoping today was a pre-amble for what's to come at CKC obedience trial in Sutton next weekend. The long drive was worth it! One more to go for her "rally novice" title. YAY!!

Halloweenies!

A scary couple of monsters hanging out at the Wong household this spooky hallow's eve! Batman and sidekick are all set for the big candy haul this evening. Adam has been looking forward to tonight for the past several days. Last night the big event was the pumpkin carving. Any attempt at curbing sugar intake today has failed miserably. Even Jersey got in on the Halloween action (not necessarily happily)! All I can say is that I really pity the kindergarten teachers tomorrow! I trust that everyone has a safe and happy trick-or-treating time tonight (and don't forget to share the treats with Mum and Dad).

Well, apart from it being our 6th wedding anniversary and Claire's 5 month-old date, we had the little Ms. Christened at Tweedsmuir Presbyterian Church in Orangeville. Claire was extremely well behaved and the entire family came to supprt Claire. It was a very nice day (apart form being FREEZING and the snow...).
Not a very exciting anniversary, but Allan surprised me with 24 long stem roses and tickets to the theatre production of "Wicked" playing at the Pantages theatre. The show for us is on Dec. 28th. A very nice surprise indeed! I will now spend the next 2 days completing and revising my case study for presentation this Friday (UGH). Lucky me!

everyone! NOt too much to report this past 2 weeks or so. It's been pretty busy with Adam at school and me at school. One forgets how much work is involved in "homework"! Batman is warming up to his little sidekick and she is experiencing all sorts of new things, like the jolly jumper and exersaucer. The weather is getting colder and we are having to entertain indoors most of the time these days. Everyone has colds too, ah winter...the lovely time of year! This weekend coming promises to be busy though, Claire's christening on Sunday, and my 6th wedding anniversary. YIKES! The following weekend is our big "Rally-O" trial in Georgetown...wish us luck!

First Snow for winter 2006....UGH

Yes, it's true. Thursday Oct 12 at about 4pm we had our first flakes of the "winter '06". Here is Jersey on the deck with a few nasty flakes floating around. We had flurries on and off through the night, causing the QEW by Hamilton/Niagara to be closed for some time. YIKES! This is the beginning I guess!

A Nice Thanksgiving!

A really nice Thanksgiving this year...Grandma and Grandpa Wong met Claire for the first time! Everyone had a terrific weekend, and the weather was absolutely perfect. Couldn't have asked for more.
Things will knuckle down now as I begin my upgrading to obtain my "Anesthesia Assistant" credential through the Michener Institute in Toronto. The obedience trial season has also begun, and Jersey and I will be partaking in a couple of trials, as well as attempting "Rally-O" for the first time. Keeping your fingers crossed that I will titale this year!!!I think Indian Summer has passed and it will be a long winter ahead.

All Shopped Out!

Ms. Claire just could not stay awake any longer after a very busy day shopping with Mummy. Although tiring, we managed to buy Mummy a few badly needed articles of clothing.
Jersey Milk is looking on wondering if there were any treats for her. I think now is Mummy's turn to crash for a bit before monster boy comes home from a day with his friends at Leanne's. Sunny but cold today, only about 10C. Looks like there will be frost in the morning. UGH. I think this weekend will be spent choosing some paint colours for Adam's room and maybe the master bathroom. Always something to do! Until next time......

A NIce Day At Scanlon Creek

afternoon. Erin, Hannah, Ryan, Adam, Claire
Jersey and I all went to Scanlon Creek. It was beautiful and warm and the crew seemed to enjoy the afternoon. We are all tired and ready for a LONG nap! Another week or so the colours at Scanlon should be pretty impressive.

So off we went to Port Perry today to see Dr Best. Claire is in the 99% for height (68cm) head size (45cm) and weight 18.9lbs. Needless to say, she was not all smiles when she received her needles, one in each chubby little leg! She will have a visit with the paediatrician to look at her flat head! After having lunch with CArol (who made Claire an absolutely GORGEOUS quilt!!, we thank her from the bottom of our hearts!) we headed home and now are getting organized to pick big bro up from the bus.

Another Rainy Sunday

Ah, here is a terrific way to kill some time on a rainy sunday afternoon!
It has done nothing but rain here for the past week and I think we are all getting weary of being soggy (except one of us , that is!). Here's to hoping the weather shapes up for our drive to Port Perry and little Princess' next needles tomorrow. ALso looking forward to having a relaxing lunch with my good friend Carol.

Again a late post, but Adam had his first real vacation this summer, to Nova Scotia to visit Grandma and Grandpa Wong. Here they are on his first visit to the ocean, Melmerby Beach. Loved every second, but the waves were TOO big to go in a really swim!
